This writer, one Charles Colman of Charles Colman Law, PLLC, is grateful to have the opportunity to speak at two exciting events two weeks from now.  (He is somewhat less grateful that these events happen to fall on the same day, in different cities, but he'll... yes, it's dated, but... make it work.)

The first event is the the "Fashioning Our Industry Conference 2012," an all-day symposium at the Yale Club of New York City where many interesting topics, including fashion law, will be discussed.  (The full symposium schedule is posted here.)  I'm pleased to be speaking alongside fashion law professionals for whom I have great respect, including Elena Paul, Director of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and Barbara Kolsun, General Counsel of Stuart Weitzman, LLC.  The conference schedule begins at 9:00 A.M. with breakfast; Ms. Kolsun will be speaking at 11:00 AM on "The Growth of Fashion Law," and I will be speaking from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. on intellectual property issues in fashion.  Register here!

The second panel on February 28th at which I will speak about fashion law is in Washington, D.C.; the panel is part of the  "Fashion Law Week DC 2012" eventThe particular panel on which I am speaking will take place at Howard University School of Law, in the Law Library, from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M., and will cover topics like "Fashion Law: What Is It?"; "How Designers Can Protect Their Brands"; "Issues New Designers Face"; and "Fashion Law's Dirty Word: 'Knockoffs.'"  The panel will be moderated by Mariessa Terrel, Founder of SBC IP Law Group.  The panel will be followed by a "Fashion Law Rountable Reception" in Howard's Pauline Murray Conference Room.  Please direct any questions about this event to fashionlawweekdc (at) gmail (dot) com.

And if you're planning to drop by my Fashion Law Week DC event, be sure to stick around for two notable speakers the next day, February 29th: Professor Susan Scafidi, Director of the Fordham Fashion Law Institute, and DC Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown.  (Both will be speaking from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, the 29th, also in the Pauline Murray Conference Room at Howard University School of Law.)

Hope to see you at one of my panels!  (Admittedly, it's probably unrealistic to hope to see you at both.)
